After ending a meeting, Jace walked out of the meeting hall with his phone in his hand.
Walking toward his office, Jace typed and deleted a message.
(There will be a thunderstorm at Nadeem City today. Be careful when you go out.]
Jace thought, ‘This won’t work. It’s too formal.’ He thought that perhaps he should be more informal
and thought of adding emojis. Jace tried to recall how Zachary usually talked and typed another new
message. [I heard that there’ll be a thunderstorm soon. Do take care of yourself, alright?]
Jace wondered to himself. ‘Does it sound too informal?’ Jace was slightly disgusted by himself. Hence,
he deleted the message and typed another. (Sage, there’ll be a thunderstorm today. Make sure to stay
safe, okay?]
He then sent the message.
Jace was slightly nervous but he was reminded of what Zachary told him – that he should not suddenly
be concerned with Sage out of the blue as this would give him away easily. Most importantly, he should
ask for a favor to prevent Sage from getting suspicious of him.
Hence, Jace immediately sent another message.
(Oh and don’t forget that you’ve promised to give me that cuff bracelet.)
After a moment of hesitation, Jace then included a cute GIF in the message before sending it to Sage.
Jace thought that his job was finally done.
Zayne noticed that Jace typed on his phone for some time and he wondered who Jace texted to as
Jace’s expression looked conflicted yet at the same time solemn. Zayne knew Jace as a person who
would usually call instead of sending a message. When he saw Jace beaming brightly, Zayne could not
help but try to catch a glimpse of who Jace texted.
He did not get to read the content of the message but he noticed the GIF.
It was enough to make Zayne dumbfounded.
The Jace that he knew would never use a GIF in his message, let alone a cutesy one.
Did the sun rise on the wrong side today?
Zayne and Jace ran into Yoel in the corridor.
“Mister Yoel, are you running away from someone?”
Scanning Yoel from his head to his toes, Zayne nearly mistook Yoel for someone else.
Yoel was always a fashionista and he was always dressed up in a prim and proper manner.
However, his outfit was stained with mud and his shoes were even drenched wet. His shirt was
crumpled and his hair was all over the place. That was why Zayne was shocked to see Yoel in that
manner.
The security guards nearly stopped Yoel from entering the building.
At the sight of Yoel, Jace furrowed his brows together.
With an overcast look on his face, Yoel replied, “I’m running away to save myself. Hurry up and get me
some new clothes and shoes as well. Make me a cup of hot tea while you’re at it. I think I’m going to
catch…ah-choo!” Before he could even finish his sentence, Yoel let out a loud sneeze.
Jace and Zayne took a step backward from Yoel at the same time. Rubbing his red nose, Yoel looked
at Jace and whined, “My buddy, please take me in…” After taking a hot shower and changing into a
clean outfit, Yoel finally felt refreshed. While sipping on the cup of hot tea, Yoel started explaining to
Jace what had happened to him. Jace already guessed that Yoel must have gotten involved with some
women and he was not interested in his story. But at the mention of Sage’s niece, Jace looked up at
Yoel. “You’re saying that Sage has another godbrother?”
