Jace left after acting weird and saying things Sage couldn’t understand.

Sage pursed her lips as she recalled his words.

Was he really here to repay her kindness? Why did it sound like he was seeking vengeance

instead?

Sage genuinely thought that they shouldn’t see each other anymore. She’d be the most grateful if he

could keep his distance. Sage’s day was always ruined every time Jace appeared.

He was such an annoying idiot.

Sage had a meeting at the head of the hospital’s office with her team of medical professionals, so she

did not think too much into everthing. She texted Nigel right after the meeting as she was worried that

he was busy.

[I’ve gone through the patient’s file. We can go ahead with the surgery.)

Right when the message went through, she immediately received a video call request. She answered,

and a wild face appeared on her screen.

Sage almost couldn’t recognize the messy-haired, unshaved man with dark circles around his

eyes.

She frowned instantly, “Nigel, are you fleeing somewhere?”

“What are you talking about,” Nigel answered with a hoarse voice, “I’m being bullied by Sean.

Sage and the medical team were dumbfounded. She signaled for everyone else to leave and she

asked in a low voice, “What happened? Did you argue with Sean?”

“It’s no big deal. We just had a fight.” He walked up and poured himself a glass of water. He was in a

low-light area. Sage thought he was sitting on a couch, and as he got up, Sage learned that he was

actually lying on a bed, and there was something on his wrist…

Sage got shocked as she looked closer. “Nigel,” Sage said.

“Hmm?” Nigel responded as he gulped the water.

Sage looked over and said, “Why did Sean cuff you up if you guys were only quarreling?”

Nigel shook the cuff on his wrist and said, “Oh, you mean this one… Ah, it’s one of our inventions.”

Sage did not believe him at all.

She squinted her eyes, “Tell me the truth, did you do something bad and Sean caught you red

handed?”

Nigel scoffed and said unpleased, “Are you his sister or mine? You should always be on my side.”

“Don’t act like I’m dumb. Sean spoils you, why would he do that to you?” Sage was getting impatient,

“I’m calling Sean if you won’t tell me the truth.”

She said as she was hanging up, and Nigel stopped her, “Hey, call him later. No rush. We have to talk

about something important right now.”
