“That won‘t do.” Simon said, “Leaving our friendship aside. Have you forgotten about your
habit?”
Wayne widened his eyes, “What habit?”
“Once you
start on something, you must complete it and it must be flawless or you‘d rather not start at all.” Simon
chuckled, “A perfectionist with OCD. There‘s no treatment for that.”
Wayne shouted, “Scram!”
“Alright, alright. You don’t have to be so hot–tempered.”
Simon pulled Wayne to sit down on the couch, “It‘s all my fault. I failed to supervise these people. It will
never happen again. You are the head of the project and you have all the say in it.”
“I‘m not going back because
of you. The reason I agreed to go back is because of money!” Wayne snorted, “You think I didn‘t know
how capitalist–minded you are? The project is already halfway done. I need to complete it to
get my money.” Simon smiled so brightly that his eyes turned into lines. “You don‘t have to worry about
money. I know that when you sign the contract with Jace, all of the profit from the project would belong
to Sage. At the end of the day, you will still earn money for your
granddaughter.” Just after Simon finished talking, Wayne stared at him, “Hey! Why did you say this? W
ho allowed you to say it out?”
Previously, he had been acting dumb and playing stupid when Sage asked, but now he has been expo
sed! Obviously, Sage already knew about it so she just smiled.
While the two old men fought, Riley just sat quietly and ate the food. Concentrating on eating was the
most respectful way a person could give food. His cheeks were filled like a squirrel who wanted to store
food in its mouth.
Wayne could not bother to bicker with Simon anymore. He looked at Riley and his expression turned g
entle, “Riley, what about a game of chess with me later?”
When Wayne was staying in Nadeem City, no one was there to play chess with him so Jace sent Riley
over to play. After a few times, the both of them became chess buddies.
Riley tried hard to chew on
the food in his mouth before speaking. He pursed his lip after swallowing and said solemnly, “Okay.”
Both of them went to another place to play. A maid followed them with a tray full of snacks to watch the
m play and also took the opportunity to feed Riley more food.
After everyone else left, only Simon, Sage, and Mister Tobias were left in the living room.
