“This thing of a vase costs a hundred million bucks?”
Kane could not understand. He could buy many other things with the same amount of money. “Hey,
Sage. Which era is this vase from? It looks like an enamel vase to me,” Luther asked Sage as he did
not know much about antiques. Sage explained, “This isn’t enamel. This is a multi-colored porcelain
vase from the Renaissance era. It is extremely rare, and there aren’t many left in this world.”
Sage caressed the vase as she introduced it to them.
“Prior to the Renaissance era, the medieval era used a lot of blue-and-white colors, but as the
Renaissance era took over, red was introduced as a medium, and thus, it expanded into multi colored
designs. Take a close look at these exquisite patterns. It was painted in red…” All of them listened to
Sage as she continued explaining, but none of them truly understood. Sage was a professional in
antiquing. They could joke and laugh along when she was singing or dancing, but when it came to
antiques, Sage did not come to play. “Okay, okay, sis. That’s enough history lessons. We’re getting
dizzy. We get it. It’s from the Renaissance era,” Luther interrupted her speech and continued, “I can’t
believe Jace is willing to give you something so valuable. That’s a huge improvement from fighting over
a few plates.
“Did he fight with our sister for a few plates?” Nigel’s face darkened as he cursed, “What an idiot.” Seth
looked at Sage and asked, “Did he say anything when he passed you the presents?” “He wished me a
happy birthday, but that’s all,” said Sage.
“What’s so great about gifting a vase? He wronged our sister for so many years. Is he trying to
compensate for all those years with a broken vase?”
Kane grabbed the vase, “I’ll throw it out now. It’s an eyesore.”
He grabbed the mouth of the vase and carried it upside down. Something fell out of the vase from
Kane’s arms.
“What was that?” Luther picked it up from the floor and gave it to Sage. He looked at Sage’s neck and
was shocked “Wait, it’s a necklace. It looks just like the one you’re wearing!” It was a smiley face
necklace. The color of the chain was slightly darker, but the shape and size were almost the same!
Sage pursed her lips. That was bizarre. How on earth did he manage to get the same one she was
wearing? Luther handed it over to Sage, but his fingers curled up in shock.
: “Why is there blood on this?”.
Sage frowned as she examined it closer. Some of the blood transferred to her fingers.
Jim carried Myles to his chair and sat him down. Sage looked at Jim’s wounded hands. Did it mean
Jace made the one in her hands if he made the necklace she wore?
The rain became heavier by the minute.
Jace sat in the back seat. His eyes glistened as if they were washed by the rain. He closed his eyes,
and all he could think about was Sage in that mermaid dress.
She looked familiar yet distant.
Sage never changed. Three years ago, Sage only showed her soft side to him. Then, she hid her soft
edges and only kept her sharp-edged character.
