Doing what he was asked, Jace stayed in bed. Unfazed by the gun that pointed at him, Jace simply lit
up a cigarette, and then hissed coldly, “Get the fuck out if you wish to live.”
One was more rampant and arrogant than the other,
Judging by the situation, Sage sensed that a fight was about to break out and started to get annoyed
by the fact that it was happening again.
She walked up to Kane and grabbed the gun in his hand, “Kane, stop it.”
Kane almost exploded in rage because of Jace’s provocation. “He bullied you didn’t he? I’m going to
teach him a lesson today!”
“He didn’t”
Sage took the gun away from Kane’s hands forcefully as she spoke, “We’re adults, Kane. Sleeping with
each other is no big deal. Plus, how is it considered as him bullying me? You’re over-exaggerating
Narrowing his eyes, Kane asked, “He didn’t force himself on you, did he?”
Recalling the scars and bruises all over Jace’s body, Sage got even more annoyed. “No, I was the one
who forced myself on him.”
Kane was wordless.
He was still a little skeptical with all of this. With a cold and indifferent expression, Jace – who was
laying languid against the headboard and puffing out cigarette smoke – was no doubt an eyesore to
Kane.
Kane then shot a deadly glance at Jace before storming out of the room.
Sage felt a sense of relief when Kane finally left.

Kane had always protected her like a warrior. He never tolerated her being hurt or harmed in any way.
There was once a young boy who had bullied her and Kane nearly broke his arm: Earlier, if she had not
stopped Kane in time, Jace’s life would have been at risk. Although Jace was not someone that should
be trifled with, as the saying goes, if you start a war, someone is bound to get hurt. So what was the
point in starting a fight?

Sage could not put on last night’s clothes as they were contaminated.
Jace had asked Zayne to send over two sets of clean outfits. He asked a question while he put on his
clothes, “Who is Kane Hudsont o you anyway? I need to know how to decide whether I should have
mercy on him or not.”
Judging by his question, it was obvious that Kane’s provocation had finally triggered Jace.
Sage, who was in the middle of zipping up her dress, froze,
Turning around to face him, Sage stared right into his eyes and replied, “He’s my family. I protected you
just now simply because of our business-esque relationship, not because I’m giving you a chance to
hurt him.”
Jace simply stared silently at her.
Sage then added, “Jace, come to me if you have anything you want to settle with. Don’t say that I didn’t
warn you. I’ll not go easy on you if you ever hurt my family!”
The light in Jace’s eyes dimmed as he walked toward Sage and stood behind her, helping her to zip
her dress.
From behind, he wrapped his arms around Sage, pulling her in closer, and whispered into her ears,
“But you haven’t really been going easy on me all this while, have you?”
“I’m not joking with you…” Frustrated, Sage struggled away from his hug.
Kane was knocking on the door impatiently.
A cold look flashed across Jace’s eyes, albeit, he held back his urge when he saw Sage shaking her
head, waring him to not do anything. Sighing, he then said, “Sage, if you would just be nice to me as
you did to them, it would mean a lot to me.”
