Jace laughed, although he got a slap from Sage, “I never said I was a nobleman from the beginning.”

What’s so funny about being not noble?

Sage glared at Jace, but her eyes were filled with emotions, it was hopeless. Jace stared at her

blushed face, she had a child-like but prideful expression. Jace thought she was adorable. He wanted

to kiss her again.

As Jace leaned over, hands prepared to touch her face, Sage tilted away and left the bedside. Jace felt

saddened as he looked at his empty hands. Sage kept his distance and she slowly calmed down. She

said, “You forced a kiss upon me, and I gave you a tight slap. We are even now.”

Jace smiled as he looked at her serious face. He leaned on the headboard.

That sounds like a good deal. Will you let me kiss you again? I could take another slap since my face

was already bruised all over.”

Sage couldn’t find words to say. She felt a mix of anger and guilt as she looked at his face.

.

She stood up and spoke as if she was a reporter, “I’m sorry, Mr. Yuriel. The person who assaulted you

today was a friend of mine. He was only trying to make me feel better by teaching you a lesson. I was

not aware of his plan. You can blame it on me if you want m e. Can we settle the matter in private?”

_

“Your friend?” Jace looked rather coldly and asked, “It was Kane wasn’t it?”

Seeing as he found out, Sage admitted. “Yes.”

“Settling privately is not an issue for me. Tell me, what are the relations between you and him?”

Jace spends the whole night looking up at Kane Hudson. No matter how hard he tried, he still couldn’t

figure out what was the relationship between him and Sage. Their lives seemed to not intertwin at all.

Even Yoel couldn’t find out what was it between them.

“I call him Second Brother,” Sage answered, and she added, “I’m afraid I am unable to disclose more.”

Jace’s brows furrowed.

Of course, he wanted to know more about it. Not just about Kane, Luther as well. He wanted to know

who were these men in her life. Sage still couldn’t trust him. ”

Jace was not going to force her hands. People have secrets and not everything can be shared.

“I promise that I’ll let this go,” Jace said as he looked at her, “as a favor to you. Therefore, you have to

make me a promise.”

Sage looked at the man in front of her. Though he was young, Jace was no simple man. He could set a

trap.

Moments later, Sage replied, “I’ll promise you anything except remarrying you.” Jace kept quiet. He

knew that before she even said it.
