[Kane: Shut up!]
(Nigel: Hahaha! Are you serious? If she still hasn’t said yes, you’ll have to work harder!)
[Seth: Her name is Laura?) [Sage: Yup! She’s the one who made him cry when he was just a child. Do
you guys remember her?]
[Nigel: I remember! Who could forget?] (Seth: Who could forget something so unforgettable?]
[Tim: Haha!]
Kane was speechless. The upright image he tried so hard to maintain was gone instantly.
Back in the car, Jace let go of his wrist. “What are you going to say after you bust in?” “Why do you
care?” asked Kane. “I don’t, but I know Sage and Laura. They would certainly be unhappy if they find
out we’re stalking them. After that, do you seriously think you would still stand a chance with Laura?”
Jace asked.
Jace knew the most important thing on Kane’s mind was getting Laura. Kane hesitated for a second
before replying, “Who cares if they’re happy or not? Anything is better than just sitting here! If you are
so adept at this, why are you still sitting here with me and not inside with Sage?”
Kane told himself that if he listened to Jace, there would be no chance of him getting together with
Laura.
Kane opened the car door and got out without any hesitation.
Kane’s words stopped Jace in his tracks. He thought about it and could not help but feel that Kane had
a point.
Looking at Sage’s face, Jace could not help but feel a sudden urge to rush in. Even if she hated him, it
would still be better than what he was to her. At least he would still be on her mind.
Jace immediately got out of the car and followed Kane into the restaurant. Sage and Laura sat at a
table by the window. They immediately saw the two men striding toward the restaurant.
Sage was, of course, shocked to see Jace suddenly appear in front of her.
Laura, however, had her back against the window and could see that Kane was quickly approaching
her. After choking on some wasabi, she asked Sage, “I’ve always wanted to ask you this. Are you sure
your brother isn’t sick? Maybe when we were little, and I hit him, I caused some irreparable damage to
his brain? He always has this weird look in his eyes when he looks at me.”
Before Laura could finish her sentence, she felt somebody behind her. She immediately turned
around and asked, “Who is it?”
Just as Laura raised her hand to strike the person who crept up on her, her hand was caught mid-air,
and her gaze connected with a pair of dark eyes.
Eyes that seem cold and distant, not in the slightest friendly. All of Laura’s nervousness faded away
once she saw who those eyes belonged to.
“It’s you,” said Laura.
At the same time, Jace also came in from the front door. Sage stayed silent, but her pupils shrank
when she saw him walk into the restaurant. ‘How did these two get together?’ “Talking about me behind
my back?” asked Kane. “Oops. You heard me? I wasn’t talking behind your back. Even if you were
here, I would still say the same thing. What are you going to do about it?” asked Laura. Kane was
speechless.
