Jace knew he was far from a good husband, but he never knew how horrible he was.

After sending off Ross, Yoel should have felt relieved. However, he felt oddly bitter, as if someone had

just punched him in the face. Even though it was not painful, it sure did not feel pleasant.

Yoel put a stick of cigarette in his mouth and raised his brows at Jace. “Wanna go get a drink?” Melody

was about to sit down when Sage ordered, “Stand up.” Melody immediately stood up straight. Sage

raised her brow and asked coldly, “Did you learn from your mistake? Melody’s head hung low. “Yes.”

“Pick your head up!” Sage growled. Melody looked up instantly and looked fearfully at Sage, “Aunt

Sage..” Melody had always been good at getting her way since she had been spoiled all her life.

However, she knew when to be serious when someone actually got angry with her. She was aware that

when it came to serious matters, the adults were not there to fool around.

Sage said with a cold expression, “We saved you some embarrassment when we were at the Yuriel

Mansion earlier because there were outsiders around. Did you really think we’re done with you?”

Melody shook her head aggressively. She felt fearful upon seeing Sage’s darkened face. “Aunt Sage, I

really am sorry.” Melody looked at the ground as she knelt silently before Sage. “What are you sorry

for?” Sage asked, expressionless.

Melody did not try to defend herself. She wholeheartedly apologized for running away from home and

worrying the adults. She promised to never do it again. She was much more genuine compared to the

apology in the Yuriel Mansion.

Sage shook her head and said, “Yes, those are the mistakes you made, but what’s the biggest mistake

of it all?”

“Huh?” Melody looked up at her, confused.

What else had she done?

Smack!

Two bags of pistachios were tossed on the stone table, creating a crisp sound.

Jace had just opened up a bottle of whiskey when he saw Yoel with two bags of pistachios. He raised

his brows and asked, “Where are those from?”

Yoel sat on the stool, poured himself a glass of drink, and said, “The kid left her bag. I found these

inside. She hid them pretty well.”

Jace frowned and asked, “Why did you go through her stuff? How lowly of you.” “I’ve always been a

lowly person. Is that news to you?”

Yoel opened up a bag of pistachio, peeled the skin off, and ate them. He said lazily, “Luther did say he

wanted to give some to me. I’ll just take these then.”

Yoel grabbed a handful, reached out to Jace, and asked, “Would you like some?”

Jade shook his head and said, “Just be mindful. Those aren’t the easiest to digest.” Yoel laughed

dismissively, “These are just nuts. How bad could they be? Come on, let’s cheer for our friendship.

We’ve been through a lot lately!” Jace cheered him forcibly and said unwillingly, “Who’s your friend

now.” “Aren’t you?” Yoel licked his lips upon swallowing the whiskey and said, “The Norah’s ladies

really are untouchable. They come with a whole family of brothers who look after them, how

troublesome! Look at what they did to us!” Jace looked at him coldly and said, “Don’t put me into the

same narration. They are indeed brothers to me, but to you, aren’t they uncles?” “Pfftt.” Yoel choked on

the mouthful of alcohol he had just swallowed and spit them all out. “Go to h*!!!!”
