Sage had been occupied with work ever since she returned to Salem City. She had not been able to

find the time to work on her carving skills since then.

Under the faint yellow desk light, Sage started carving a gold piece.

Even the gold shavings were worth thousands of dollars, but Sage did not think it was a waste to carve

gold. Without hesitation, Sage started carving a rose.

Her carving abilities were a prized skill of the Norah family. Her grandfather had taught the skill to her

father, and he had taught it to her.

Sitting in her father’s lap, she had picked up the carving knife at the tender age of three. It was after

plenty of trial and error that she got to where she was today.

Aside from her family, no one knew that she knew how to carve, not even Jace.

Just when she was about to carve another rose, the phone in her room rang. It was Miss Zamora

informing her that Yeva wanted to meet with her.

“Have her come over.”

Ever since Sage had returned, Yeva felt as if she had been living in hell.

She had been locked up more than twice now and was not allowed to set foot out of the house. Yeva

felt as if she was stuck in jail, and her days were suffocating.

Today, she managed to secretly call her father, Braxton. She wanted him to come home to save her,

but Braxton was too immersed i n bidding for gemstones to care about his daughter.

Braxton hung up on her after a few brief exchanges, and this infuriated Yeva.

What more could she expect from her money-obsessed father?

Sitting on the toilet, Yeva was getting more and more anxious. She could not put up with Sage any

longer.

She also knew that she should not go against Sage head-on as she would just end up losing.

Plus, she should not face Sage alone. She needed help from someone else.

Gnawing on her lips while she cracked her brain to come up with a solution, Yeva finally made up her

mind and dialed a number o n her phone.

“Sage.”

Unlike before, Yeva greeted Sage politely as soon as she entered Sage’s room.

“Hey.” With the carving knife in her hand, Sage responded nonchalantly.

Taking a glance at Yeva before looking back at the artwork, she asked, “You’re already done

memorizing? I thought I gave you two days? I must have underestimated you. Come, show me what

you’ve got.”

Yeva froze. She had spent the day trying to sneak away from the two bodyguards that she did not even

have the time or mood to memorize the house rules.

It was already difficult for her to memorize one, let alone a hundred of them.

“Ah, about that…” Yeva laughed awkwardly, “I’m not done with that yet. You can test me tomorrow

instead. I’m here today as I wanted to ask you for a favor, and I was hoping that you would allow me to

do what I want to do.”

Yeva had a drastic change in her attitude. Three years ago, she had always been this polite and well-

mannered with Sage, until she showed her true self.

As the saying goes: One who is unaccountably solicitous is hiding evil intentions. Although Yeva stayed

the same, Sage was not that mild-mannered anymore.

“Go on, what do you need?”

Yeva continued, “I was wondering whether Leah could stay at Rosa Garden for a few days? She has

almost graduated from college, and I since we have not seen each other much, I miss her quite dearly.”

Sage looked at her, puzzled. “I thought you and Leah aren’t on good terms? You guys have been

jealous of each other since you were young.”

“There’s no such thing. We’re all sisters, and it’s only natural that we’d fight with each other. Plus, it’s

been so long, and we’re all grown-ups now. We should be taking care of and supporting each other,

don’t you think so?”

Looking at Yeva’s scheming face, Sage sighed and thought to herself, “And she thinks that I don’t know

what she’s up to. Just a look at that face and I already know that she and Leah have planned to

challenge me.”

“Sure, why not? Invite Leah to come over, and let’s have a get-together.”

Sage thought that this way, it would be easier for her to “educate” both of her cousins, and she would

be able to save time and energy. “Busy days are yet to come.” Sage thought to herself.
