To most of the guests, the dinner event was coming to an end, but for Sage, this was just the beginning
of the event.
Sage did not regret the incident that had taken place earlier, but she did feel guilty. Therefore, she was
prepared to fully support Yoselyn’s auction as a way of compensating for her earlier actions.
The guests were ushered into a smaller hall for the auction. Sage sat in the front row as usual, but the
normally bright lights had been dimmed in an effort to prevent any pictures from being taken and
leaked to the press. It would be troublesome to remove her photos once they had been posted on the
net.
The host showcased the items that had been donated by the guests for the auction. Sage had not
brought anything for the auction, s o she donated the emerald necklace she was wearing. 1
“The first item is a pair of jade bangles donated by Miss Yoselyn Benette. Do I have a hundred
thousand dollars?”
“Two hundred thousand dollars!
“Three hundred thousand dollars! Going once
“Right, we’ve got four hundred thousand dollars!
“And… can we get five hundred thousand dollars?”
Sage held up a sign and the auction master announced excitedly, “Five hundred thousand dollars!
Going once… going twice… sold! Congratulations, Miss Sage. You are now the owner of a pair of
gorgeous jade bangles!”
Yoselyn was proud that the auction was going well right from the start. Getting to her feet, Yoselyn sent
a flying kiss to Sage while Sage responded with a huge grin.
“For the second item, we have a nephrite jade ring donated by Mr. Julian Jefferson, the CEO of the
Jefferson Group. The bidding will start at two hundred thousand dollars!”
Julian got up onto his feet, waved, and nodded at the crowd.
Yeva sat next to him. She sat tall. Her back was straight, and she looked proud of Julian.
Luther took a glance at Julian then squinted at the ring on the stage, and asked Sage, “Is that real?”
Without even looking up from the pamphlet she was flipping through, Sage said, “It’s not worth that
much. My uncle has a collection of those, and I’m guessing that Yeva stole one from his room.”
Yeva had indeed stolen the ring from her father, and it was served as the explanation for why Julian
had allowed Yeva to accompany him to the event.
On the other side of the room, Yoel too was plagued with suspicion. “Is that thing even worth two
hundred thousand dollars?”
Like Sage, Jace too was flipping through the auction pamphlet. A set of four enamel porcelain plates
caught his eye. “That piece of jade is not worth that amount of money. If you want one, I can easily get
one for you from the antique market,” said Jace.
Yoel asked, “How much would it be if I were to get it from the market?”
“At most a thousand dollars.”
Yoel was rendered speechless and shot an angry glare at Julian
Nevertheless, they were still people who thought that nephrite jade was valuable. The item was finally
auctioned to someone at a -price of seven hundred thousand dollars.
Both Yoel and Luther felt bad for the person who bought the item.
The auction was in full swing and a total of ten items had been sold. The auction had managed to
garner five million dollars in profits. Sage had asked Luther to bid for an oil painting and a pair of
diamond earrings. The items themselves had little value, but they had caught her fancy. Plus, Luther
had told her that he would get her something from the auction.
“Are you not angry anymore?” asked Luther with a big grin on his face. Sage nodded, and Luther
tapped her nose lightly with his finger and whispered, “You little brat.”
Luther’s action caught Jace’s attention. His grip on the pamphlet tightened as he glared at Luther.
“Onto the next item, we have a Columbian emerald necklace offered by Norah Group’s CEO, Miss
Sage. The bidding starts at seven million dollars!” As soon as the auction master finished his sentence,
the auction room immediately erupted into an uproar.
