A night had passed just like that.

Yeva felt a piercing pain in her hand the moment she woke up. Knitting her brows into a frown, Yeva

cursed at Sage nastily.

Going downstairs, she noticed that both Sage and Leah were already having breakfast and the both of

them were chuckling away, looking as if they were on fairly good terms with each other.

Yeva opened her eyes wide and froze as she thought to herself: ‘What the hell is going on?’

It had just only been one night and Leah had managed to get Sage’s trust? What possibly did she

miss?

“Good morning, Sage.”

In an attempt to get attention, Yeva greeted Sage politely.

Sage simply glanced at her. Leah, who was sitting opposite Sage, also greeted Yeva, “Moming, Yeva.”

“Moming to you too,” With a smile plastered on her face, Yeva sat down next to Leah. Studying the look

on their faces, she asked carefully, “What were you guys talking about? You look so happy.”

Sage continued eating and did not say anything.

Leah took a look at Sage before replying, “We were just talking about some old stuff, you know, that

year when Sage took us to the neighbor’s orchard to pick apples and we nearly got bitten by a dog.”

“Hahaha. I remember it now.”

Yeva burst into a rather dramatic laugh which made Yeva and Leah turn their heads to look at her in

disdain, and only then did Yeva stop laughing.

The harmonious mood earlier was immediately replaced by an awkward silence.

Yeva started eating as she thought to herself that it was the right choice to ask Leah to move in

together with them. Yeva thought that Leah was smart to bring up their old memories to lower Sage’s

guard.

As soon as Yeva stopped talking, Leah and Sage continued on with their conversation. “You’re almost

graduating soon, right? Have you found a place to intern?”

Leah replied, “Not yet. I was about to start looking when I received Yeva’s phone call. It’s been a long

time since I last saw you so I decided to visit you instead.”

Inwardly, Yeva scoffed: ‘What a bootlicker. She’s saying it as if she meant it. Leah is actually more

pretentious than I am.’

Sage, on the other hand, simply nodded and said, “Since you’re majoring in jewelry design, I’ll make

some arrangements for you to carry out your internship with us at Norah Jewel.”

Leah bit down on her lips and asked, “Can I really?”

“I don’t see why not.”

Sage was almost done with her breakfast. Cleaning the comers of her lips, she added, “I’ve seen your

designs. They’re creative and thoughtful, and I must say that you’re quite gifted. You’re still young and

there’s plenty of time for you to develop your talent.”

“Mm!” Leah nodded her head excitedly. “I’m willing to give it a try. I don’t mind if I don’t get paid too!”

Sage looked at her lovingly and smiled, “Silly child, you work to earn money. The pay for an intern at

our company is quite good, so don’t worry and make use of your time to learn and sharpen your skills.”

“I will, thank you, Sage!” Leah was exhilarated. She had decided to major in jewelry design because

she hoped to join the Norah Jewel someday and also hoped to help Sage in her own way.

Yeva, who was listening to their conversation, was engulfed by jealousy. She quickly added, “Sage, I

want to work at Norah Group too!”

In fact, Yeva already had this thought back then but her father did not allow her to. He said to her, “A

lady like you should stay at home and get married. Your biggest task is to get married to Julian

Jefferson. There’s no need for you to work.”

Of course, she wanted to marry Julian but this had nothing to do with her wanting to work. Although her

father emphasized that working was tough, all she had seen was them having fun and partying.

“I’ll ask if the janitor team needs more people, I’ll arrange a position for you if they do,” replied Sage.

Leah almost slipped out a chuckle. Hanging her head low, she continued eating.

Yeva’s face was flushed red. “I don’t want to go to the janitor team! I want to work at Norah Jewel!”

“What can you do there? Do you even know how to design? Do you have any portfolio?”

Sage fired questions at Yeva, leaving her speechless. Biting down on her lips, she attacked Leah, “But

Leah doesn’t have any portfolio either! She’s a college student and I graduated a year earlier than her!”

“And what did you do with your time during that one year? Dating? Shopping? Or attending all sorts of

dinner events and parties?”

Sage glanced at her coldly. “Even though Yeva hasn’t graduated, she is already working hard to gain

experience. She had interned a t different designing companies and had even won first prize in a

national jewelry design competition.”
