Ross slowly recounted his side of the story, “When we arrived at Nadeem City, we saw
how different you were. It was as if you were a completely different human being. Like you were tamed,
you were no longer the troublemaking sister that I remembered.” Sage felt her throat go dry, and her
face started burning up, who knew that Ross and Tim saw her back in Nadeem City.
‘Back then, they were probably laughing at me,’ thought Sage to herself. “We saw how you tried to play
the role of a good wife. How you tried your best to make him comfortable. That very moment I felt an
uncontrollable rage arise within me, if Tim didn’t stop me then, I would’ve probably got down from the
car and brought you home,” said Ross. Ross felt the rage within him even when it was something in the
past. “Your brother said something that I didn’t understand.”
“What did he say?” asked Sage.
“He said you had it coming,”answered Ross.
Sage was speechless. She suddenly felt that everything seemed so meaningless. Sage slumped into
the seat and said, “Tim never told me that before,”
Ross glanced at her, “We knew that you wouldn’t take it well. All of us knew that you deserve better, but
we also know how far stubborn you were.”
Sage immediately had a flashback of how her mother used to tell her that nobody other than her
brothers would tolerate her because of her stubbornness and how she would never find a husband if
she stays the way she was.
Of course, Sage was not convinced back then, she told her mother that she would only marry
somebody who could love her for who she was. If not she still had her brother who would take good
care of her.
Sage never expected that a man would cause her so much anguish. She did not know that she would
be ensnared by the trap named love.
A trap that nearly claimed her life. Jace only left his office when the stars were already hung high above
the skies. The moment Jace left his office, the thought of returning to his empty house immediately
caused his head to throb uncontrollably.
Jace turned to his driver and said, “Go to Yuriel Treasure Museum.”
Behind the door to the museum, a voice inside pass the door, “Who is it?” “Teacher, it’s me,” answered
Jace. As the door swung open, Mendoza said, “Why are you here?” Mendoza let Jace in and closed
the door behind them. After that, they continued in the museum guided by the light of an oil lamp.
Mendoza stifled a yawn and answered his question,
“I know the jade is important to you. That’s why I’m here looking after it.”. The pieces of jade were in a
safe. The safe is more secure than the safe in banks. There were only two keys to the safe, one is in
Mendoza’s hands, and the other in Jace’s. Mendoza opened the safe and the pieces were still laying in
the safe. Even if it was a broken piece of jade, under the amazing technique of Wayne, Jace could
already see an astounding piece of jewelry in the making. ‘Only if Sage would take part as well,’
thought Jace to himself.
The very thought of Sage made Jace moodier. Mendoza standing by Jace could feel Jace wasn’t
happy, “Why are you staring at the jade like it’s a woman. Do you miss her that badly?”
