“What’s up?” Sage looked doubtfully at Nigel, “Did you do this on purpose? Pretending to
look pitiful so I would help you?”
Nigel cared about his appearance as much as Luther, always trying to look his best at all times. Why
would he ever show anyone his unkempt side? It didn’t make sense to either of them.
Now Sage knows that he’s trying to use her…
Nigel admitted and grinned, “You’ve always been a clever girl.”
Sage was speechless. All of her brothers, except for her eldest brother, were abnormal.
“Let’s get into it,” said Sage. She briefly explained the situation about the patient, “This patient possibly
sustained some external injuries that hurt his spinal cord, or there may be a tumor pressing the spinal
cord that might be causing him to be paralyzed from the waist down. Luckily, he isn’t completely
paralyzed yet and there is a cure.
I read his file and it said that he used to be in the special forces of the military, so he is quite fit.
“Okay,” Nigel said, “Not just that. I heard from Professor Hermann that this patient used to be a spy
near the borders for at least five years. It’s a miracle he sustained these injuries and still stayed alive.”
Sage felt impressed by this patient.
“The team and I have created an initial treatment plan for him, but we needed to examine him first
before we could confirm anything. Tell Professor I’ll fly back tonight so that we can arrange for his
surgery to be scheduled next week.”
Nigel nodded and said, “Okay, I’ll him know.”
Sage put down the files and said, “Now, you may tell me what’s going on with your life, and I’ll decide
whether to help you with Sean.”
Nigel briefed Sage about what happened after a moment of hesitation. Nigel’s ex-boyfriend fell ill and
he begged Nigel to treat him, and Nigel finally operated on him honoring his ethical code of being a
doctor.
This ex-boyfriend of his started pursuing Nigel ever since he made a full recovery. He made known to
the entire hospital that he was trying to get back with Nigel, and even with Nigel’s clear rejection, he
went to Sean’s law firm and caused a scene. It was obviously extremely chaotic,
Sean got mad and beat the guy up and Nigel was no exception.
Nigel felt embarrassed explaining the whole situation to Sage. He sighed, “I have no feelings for that
guy anymore, and I wasn’t cheating on Sean. I even told him multiple times about everything, but he
wasn’t willing to believe me. So I’m coming to you as my last resort.”
Sage scoffed at her brother upon hearing his plea.
“Serves you right. Sean has every right to be mad at you. You should cut all ties with your exes and
have absolutely no connection with each other. Why are you still in contact with him? What’s once
broken can never be fixed again. He’s an idiot, a moron!”
Sage opened her mouth and started reprimanding Nigel like a machine gun and left him dumbfounded,
“No, I’m not in contact with him, he is the one who came to me…”
“That’s enough. You should go think about your actions.”
Sage hung up the video call and breathed in deeply, then she made a call to Sean. “Hi, Sean, I’m
Sage…”
Sage tried to mediate between the two because she felt that it wasn’t worth breaking a relationship just
because of some third-party meddling. Sean quietly heard what Sage had to say, and he replied in a
low voice, “I know. I’m just trying to teach him a lesson, don’t be such a philanthropist.”
Sage felt relieved when Sean said he will go home tonight, and she sent Nigel a message telling him
that everything was settled. Nigel was overjoyed and he transferred some money to her as a thank you.
Sage accepted the money.
Oddly enough, she still felt a little broken inside.
Sage thought that the best way to end a relationship was to treat it as if your ex has passed away, to
not communicate with them, and to complete cut them out of your life.
Easy come easy go. That was Sage’s style. It’s not a difficult thing to understand, so why couldn’t Jace
just accept it?
