The Sage Jace was looking at was slightly different from the Sage that Hunter and Louis described.
However, Sage was more serious when she worked compared to her usual self.
It was as if tired’ did not exist in Sage’s dictionary, as she worked non-stop, like a wheel that kept on
turning. She talked fast but clearly and comprehensibly.
Her insults were, indeed, harsh. Jace could not help but imagine himself working under her. He would
surely be tortured to death.
Maybe not, since Jace was definitely smarter than Hunter. Jace thought to himself that if in the future,
he had nowhere else to go, he would probably work under the Norah Group as an assistant and kick
Hunter out. He would become her left hand man and help solve all of her problems and protect her.
Jace imagined all that and thought it might be better just to retire and become a stay-at-home father,
spending quality time with his wife and children. Sage was on the call with Finn talking about the
racecourse. The racecourse in the northern Suburb was about to take off, but Sage was not in Salem
City at that moment, so she entrusted the launching of the racecourse to Finn. However, it was
worrying as there were still plenty of things that were incomplete. Sage ordered Finn to settle things
quickly and not to delay the progress of the launch. “…Sure, that’s all. Talk soon.”
Finn added something before Sage could hang up the phone. Sage frowned and answered him, “The
hot spring resort should be under the Yuriels. I’m with Mister Jace now. Why don’t you speak directly
with him?” Sage turned around and walked toward Jace with a phone. “What’s up?” Jace asked.
“The hot spring resort at the racecourse. There are some details that still need to be sorted out.
Jace nodded and said, “Switch it to loudspeaker mode, I’ll talk to him.”
Sage turned the loudspeaker on and had a phone meeting with Jace, Finn, and another person in
charge from Yuriel Group.
The sun was setting when they finished the meeting, painting the sky a deep shade of crimson.
Sage felt the heated phone in her hand and weariness creeping up on her as she yawned
uncontrollably.
“You must be exhausted. Take a break.”
Jace felt his heart ache, seeing how tired Sage looked.
“It’s okay, it’s getting late anyway. I’ll be leaving soon,” Sage said as she shook her head.
Sage was just following their arrangement. She would be his companion during the day whilst his care
worker would take care of him during the night.
“At least have dinner before you leave.” Jace tried his best to make Sage stay for a little bit longer.
When Sage was looking at her phone and did not answer Jace, he asked, “Dr. Sage, will I be able to
leave the hospital before valentine’s day?”
Others would usually refer to her as Dr. S. When Jace referred to her as Dr. Sage, she was slightly
shocked.
Sage responded with a hum as she looked at her phone and answered, “No.”
“Can I take a day off on that day then?” Jace asked as he gestured ‘one’ with his pointing finger.
“Just one day. I mentioned before that I’d like to spend valentine’s with you this year.”
Sage smiled unwillingly and said, “As I told you before, you wish.”
Jace was rendered speechless.
“Just be a good patient and stay in the hospital.”
Dr. Sage was ruthless. She was about to leave the room after she told Jace that. She turned around
and felt dizzy in an instant.
“Careful!” Jace was shocked and held her by instinct. Sage lost control of her body and toppled on top
of Jace.
The door swung open as Freya wheeled into the room and was greeted by the scene before her.
All three of them looked at each other, baffled.
“We were never here. Please go on,” Aunt Wendy was the first to react. She quickly wheeled Freya
out, closing the door behind her.
