It was just as she said.

“My life has been smooth sailing for more than twenty years. My parents shower me with love, and my

brothers are very protective of me. I’ve never suffered until now… You… You’re the biggest storm in my

life.”

Jace suddenly felt a heavy feeling in the chest. It felt as if a big hand clenched his heart, making him

gasp in pain. He could barely stand steadily, so he sat down again.

It hurt as if someone had hit his head like he was in the boxing ring. He sat on the bench for a long time

before he gradually recovered from his dizziness.

Two nurses who happened to pass by noticed his pale face. They approached him and asked,” Mister,

are you okay? Do you feel uncomfortable? Do you need the doctor’s help?” “No need. Thanks.”

Jace declined politely and stood up slowly to leave. The two nurses stared at his back as he left. One

of the nurses said, “He seems lost and pale. Does he have a terminal illness?”

“He’s still young. How can that be? He looked like he was lost in love. Did someone dump him?

“Huh? That’s impossible. He’s so handsome. Why would any woman dump him? He’d be the one

dumping her…” “No way? Is he really so affectionate?” “Nope! Since ancient times, the great poets

who have written love poems were all playboys. Even if they are affectionate, it’ll be in a different way!”

“You have a point. I can’t deny that.”

Asher’s operation was a success. However, it came with a huge price. All his bones had to be broken

to be reshaped.

To recover from the high paraplegia was a tough battle with little hope and painstaking effort. A

successful recovery would depend on the patient’s strong perseverance and financial power.

It would not be easy.

Sage felt relaxed after the surgery. She was only responsible for the patient’s physical recovery, but not

his mental health. The patient had a girlfriend to help, so she did not have to worry about it.

It was rare for Sage to visit Brown City. She took the chance and visited Nigel’s father during the trip.

Mason was so happy that he granted his son an unprecedented three-day leave to let him show Sage

around. Nigel took Sage to a lot of attractions and treated her to delicious food. When they checked in

at a popular shop, they got a video call from Sean.

Sean greeted Sage and said hello. After that, he told Nigel about an invitation to a wine tasting event.

He agreed to attend the event before his business trip and wanted to take Nigel there. However, he

could not make it.

Sean suggested, “You can take Sage there and have some fun. Remember to bring me two bottles.”

Nigel gladly agreed and dragged his voice, “Okayyy” At last, he hung up reluctantly after saying a few

more words. Sage got goosebumps from his conversation with Sean. They were too sweet together.

Nigel ignored Sage’s discomfort and chuckled. “The wine tasting events in Brown City are pretty high-

end and interesting. Shall I take you there to have fun?” Sage knew Nigel and San were both

alcoholics. They loved alcohol and shared the same likings.1 She rolled her eyes at Nigel. “You already

promised Sean. Can I say no?”

“Of course not.” Nigel smiled and pulled Sage out of the shop. He hailed a taxi and went straight to the

event location.

“There are many foreigners at the event. I can’t understand them whenever they babble. It’s great that

you’re here. I’ll be depending on you to be the translator and to pick a few bottles of good wine for me.”

“Sure.” Sage agreed nonchalantly and said, “I’ll pick, but you’ll pay for it.” Nigel smiled generously. “No

problem.” Then, he raised his phone and hummed, “Anyway, I’ll be swiping Sean’s card.” Sage was

slightly irked by Nigel’s display of love. She decided to pick a few bottles of good wine and make them

pay. She must make him pay for flaunting! When she arrived at the event, she unexpectedly saw two

familiar figures and wanted to curse. Yoel waved at her from a distance and swirled his wine glass.

Beside him stood Jace who was fully suited handsomely.

Sage’s bright face immediately turned sour upon seeing them. Did these two people put a radar on

her? Why was she running into them at all times? They were so annoying!

Before she could curse, a graceful figure walked over to Jace with a bright and flirtatious smile.

Immediately, Sage recognized her. It was Sienna, whoin she had not seen in a long time.

Ah, it turned out that Jace was at the event to meet his precious ex-girlfriend. She was just too

sensitive about him.
