“Alright,” both Jace and Yoel said in unison as they went over to help set the table and prepared dinner.
In an hour, Sage managed to make mac and cheese, braised ribs, grilled steaks, mashed potatoes,
and crab cakes. Everything looked scrumptious.
“The fish stew will take a while longer. Let’s just start now,” Sage spoke as sweat dripped from her
forehead. When Jace saw this, h e took his handkerchief out and wanted to wipe it off for her. Her body
froze and wanted to escape when she felt the contact. Shaking the feeling off, Sage acted quickly, “I’ll
do it myself.”
“Let me, I insist,” Jace held on her wrist with one hand and wiped her forehead with another. He felt
guilty for making her work so hard on this meal.
“Thank you for your hard work,” said Jace Sage felt a little astounded and waved his hand away, “It’s
just a meal, it’s not much.”
Yoel looked at them with an opened mouth, “Now, now. Let’s eat.” Sage and Jace both gave him a
deadly stare. Immediately after, Yoel felt goosebumps all over.
As they started eating, everyone’s eyes lit up brightly. It was even Hunter’s first time trying her cooking
even though he had worked with her for years.

As a foodie himself, Yoel entirely let go of formalities. He kept exclaiming at how delicious the food
was, as though he was in heaven and wings grew behind his back.
“Oh my gosh, this was amazing! How did you make all this?” asked Yoel.
Sage looked at him-coldly and replied, “Don’t be overdramatic.”
“No, we’re not,” said Jace with a serious tone, “It’s actually really good.”
Sage smiled, “Glad you all like it. Eat as much as you want.”

The room quickly quieted down. The few men gobbled up their food as if they had been starved for
days. As they got to the fish stew, all of them were astounided that it tasted extraordinary
Jace felt that the stew he had earlier on was pretty spot on, but this.. this was on a whole other level
that could not be compared to anything else.
He looked at Sage in disbelief as he thought to himself what ingredients were added into the stew. It
was almost addictive and left him wanting more as he consumed each bite.
Yoel finished the entire pot quickly, and looked at Sage all teary-eyed, “Sage, I only have one request.
Can I pay you to be my personal chef? One meal a day is enough, I could do either breakfast, lunch, or
dinner. Just name the price.” Jace’s face darkened. He pushed away Yoel’s hands and without waiting
for Sage’s reply, he scowled, “No way!”
