It was a rare opportunity that Yoel got to drive Sage, hence he insisted to send Sage back to her place
but was rejected by Sage.
The moment they arrived in town, Sage’s driver waited for her.
Sage got out of the car and walked away without saying anything else.
Yoel called out to her, “Hey, you’re leaving just like that?”
With her phone in her hand, Sage turned around with a look of annoyance on her face and asked,
“What do you want?”
“Nothing big. But we helped you a big time, didn’t we? You should buy us a meal, right Jace?” Yoel
tried to get support from Jace.
“Sounds good.” It was rare that Jace took his side
Sage thought that those two were feathers of a bird
Sage answered, “It isn’t very decent of you to be expecting something in return after helping.”
Yoel retorted, “Well, it’s inhuman to forget a generous act. It’s not ladylike!
Yoel studied Sage’s expression carefully
Sage did not bother to keep it up with Yoel. “Tonight it is then 7 pm at Tasteful Restaurant. I’ll buy
dinner.”
Yoel flashed her a wide grin. “Sounds like a plan”
Sage then got into her car. A total of three cars were present just to pick her up. The car in front and
behind Sage’s car was filled with her team of bodyguards.
Yoel then turned to look at Jace who still sat in the backseat. “Get in front here. What am I? Your
driver?”
Jace replied, “I thought you enjoyed being the driver?”
“Only for Sage. Not you.”
Jace simply shot him a cold glare.
At the thought of being able to taste Sage’s cooking tonight, Yoel was overjoyed. He hummed happily
to the song playing on the radio and asked, “So? How did things go in Ark Town?”
Jace leaned back into the seat and lit up a cigarette. He sounded emotionless and tired. “So-so.
“Means it’s progressing slowly, huh.”
Yoel curled up the corners of her lips and expressed his thoughts honestly to Jace.
“I thought of going down to Ark Town too. But I heard that you were going too so I changed my mind.
Because Sage would somehow be in a bad mood whenever you’re around. I didn’t want to be caught in
the crossfire.”
He then took a glance at Jace and added, “But you should be more careful. Seems like you’re getting
more competitors. Aside from me, there’s that young lad that’s always sticking next to Sage. He’s so
much younger than us.”
Jace did not say anything.
“He seems to be quite sneaky and sly too.”
Jace planned to ignore Yoel’s remarks but his last sentence resonated with him. Taking a puff of the
cigarette, he said, “You could use some of his brains though.”
Yoel was wordless.
As soon as she got into the car, Sage received a call from Seth.
Answering the call, Sage greeted, “Seth.”
“Sage, have you left the airport?” Seth’s voice was lamented with sweetness and gentleness
