The scent of freshly roasted coffee permeated Sunrise Roastery.
Sitting in front of Jace, Finn poured him a cup of freshly-brewed coffee. “These are Colombian beans.
I’m not sure if it’s to your liking.”
*Thank you.” Jace took a sip of the coffee before putting down the cup. He looked calm and composed.
He was completely different compared to when he was with Sage earlier.
Finn studied Jace silently. He was aware that Jace was to inherit the Yuriel Group. Finn had heard
much about him and had been wanting to meet Jace.
The Yuriel Group was founded by Jace’s grandfather. It was considered a family business, and their
business had always been doing well but unfortunately, Jace’s uncles were not qualified enough to take
over the business. It was not until Jace was elected to be next in line that the business had started
flourishing.
It was also Jace Yuriel who had managed to make Yuriel Group the most powerful and influential group
in Nadeem City.
“I’ve heard a lot about you, Mr. Jace. I’ve been meaning to find an opportunity to meet with you. But, as
you are aware, the Yuriel Group and Norah Group have always kept a distance from each other, and it
is not always that we get to work together.”
Meeting Finn’s gaze, Jace replied calmly, “Mr. Finn, I’ve heard about you. You’re Sage’s right-hand
man.”
Even though Jace had not managed to acquire information on Sage, he had managed to acquire
information on the people she surrounded herself with. Finn Janssen was not only Sage’s eyes and
ears, but he was also the son of the Norah family’s designated driver.
Three years ago the accident which had claimed the lives of Sage’s parents had also claimed the life of
their driver, Finn’s father.
Not only did Sage not blame the Janssen family, but she had helped them settle down, and she even
had their son, Finn, return to the country to help her with the management of Norah Group
Finn smiled politely. “I am heavily indebted to the Norah family. Miss Sage and I have grown up
together, or more precisely, you can say that I watched her grow. To me, Sage is not only my employer,
but she is also my sister.”
Jace squinted. “Ah, childhood friends.”
Finn smiled and replied, “Oh, I’m more like her protector. I am the knight that protects the princess in
fairy tales. Therefore, I won’t allow anyone to bully or hurt her.”
The gentle look in Finn’s eyes was replaced by one of coldness.
Unfazed, Jace continued to look at him silently.
Finn continued, “I was hoping to get some answers by meeting with you today. I wanted to know what
Miss Sage had gone through i n the past three years that she was missing. I also wish to know about
the relationship you have with Miss Sage.”
Upon hearing this, a look of disappointment flashed across Jace’s face.
Jace was hoping that he would be able to get something out of Finn, considering their close
relationship, but it seemed that he would not be able to do so.
Reaching for the cup, Jace took a sip of the coffee and asked, “Didn’t Sage tell you anything? I thought
you guys were close?” “I’m not her family. There are some things that she’d choose not to tell me
because she didn’t want me to worry.”
Finn added honestly, “But ever since she returned, I could see that she’s bothered by something. She’s
not that cheerful and bubbly anymore. I thought that she must have gone through a lot of things in the
past three years.”
Jace furrowed his brows slightly. He suddenly realized that when Sage first got married to him, she had
indeed been cheerful and filled with light. She had even been well-behaved and well-mannered.
However, now she treated him as the enemy, and she barred her thorns whenever he was around.
“Three years ago, my dad drove Sage’s parents to Nadeem City as they wanted to discuss marriage,
but you said that she was married to you…”
Finn stared at Jace and asked, “Are you the man that she had a crush on for ten years?”
Jace’s pupils contracted. His eyes were filled with shock and surprise.
Propose marriage? A crush on him for ten years?
Sage had a crush on him?
The racing course was still under construction, and the roads were bumpy. It had been a wise decision
on Sage’s part to change into a pair of sandals.
“Be careful.” Yoel gave Sagea a hand. Without avoiding him, she took his hand and thanked him
politely.
