When Wayne saw Sage pick up the contract, his voice quickly trailed off and when he saw
the crossed look on Sage’s face, his heart immediately sank. “Sage, I…” Wayne tried to explain
himself, but before he could finish he was interrupted by Sage.
“The project seems interesting. If you want to take part in the project, I could ask the legal team to look
over the details of the contract. Better safe than sorry,” said Sage. Wayne was shocked by how good
Sage took it. He nodded and said, “Sure, sure.” When both of them left the hospital, the sun was
already looming over the horizon. The moment Kane and Luther heard that Ross was in town, they
immediately took Ross out for dinner.
Sage on the other hand was stuck in a jam.
Sage looked out of her car window, into the rain. She could not help but feel bothered by the contract
she saw on her grandfather’s bed.
Ross sat at the other side of the car. He look over to Sage and said, “You can’t run forever, one day
you would have to face your problems.”
Sage turned around and stared into his eyes.
“Do you think otherwise?” asked Ross. Even if the Montels preferred to stay away from the affairs of
the world outside of their establishment. Ross still knew Sage well enough to know that something was
bothering her. Ross also knew that it would not be easy for Sage to deal with the breakup after three
years.
“You’re right, but I don’t care,” replied Sage, faking a smile. Ross could not help but chuckle as he
rapped his knuckles lightly on Sage’s forehead. “You are the bad influence on Emily and why she
always diss me.”
“Huh, I’m surprised you know what diss means. I always thought you had no interest in pop culture,”
replied Sage.
“Don’t try to change the subject,” said Ross.
Sage looked into Ross’s eyes, “Do you know how it feels to have your heart broken into pieces?”
Ross looked right back into Sage’s eyes, as Sage continued “I’ve endured this pain twice already. I
don’t plan on experiencing it thrice”
Ross could feel a lump in his throat, there was nothing he could say that would make her feel better.
Ross knew exactly what she was talking about.
The first time Sage had her heartbroken was when her parents died in a car crash. The second time
would be when Jace asked for a divorce. The people who love her the most and the one she loves the
most all decided to leave her in a short period.
That was why Sage, who used to be a bright, active, naughty girl turned into a cold, calculating woman.
Ross finally said, “Actually Tim and I went to Nadeem to visit you once.” “You and Tim?” asked Sage.
“Tim was worried that you weren’t happy in Nadeem,” replied Ross.
