It was soon the national holiday.
Sage did not return to Salem City but remained in Nadeem City.
She went back and forth from the company, to the hospital, and the museum. There were days when s
he would not even have the time to go home.
The Forget Me Not project was at its critical stage and after the national holiday, the first batch of repair
ed antiques would be launched to the public; This was an important stage for the Yuriel Group. Even th
ough Sage looked calm on the inside, she was constantly on her toes. Laura helped Sage to relax wher
eas Kane gave her a lecture. “I told you from the start that you brought this upon yourself, dropping a ro
ck onto your own feet. What‘s the point of working your as* off for the Yuriel Group? Why didn‘t I know t
hat you were such a selfless person, huh?”
Sage‘s body muscles were tensed all over. She had Laura massage her shoulders.
With her eyes half–
open, Sage replied, “I‘m only doing this so that Yuriel Group would be back on track as soon
as possible. And when that happens, I too can step down soon, right? Mom is the one who taught us to
do our best and see things through if we decided to commit.” Sage inhaled sharply and added, “Since I
‘ve decided to take up this project, there‘s no reason for me to give up halfway, is there? Besides, the Y
uriel Group and Norah Group are business partners. Norah Group too would benefit if Yuriel
Group is making a profit. Even though this ongoing project is handled by the Yuriel Group, the benefact
or of this project is grandpa, isn‘t
it?
Laura turned Sage around and helped massage her legs. Kane crossed his legs and simply scoffed. “
Whatever you say, Sage. You‘re the one who‘s getting tired from all the work, I‘m not affected anyway.”
“Alright alright, just let it go, Kane.”
Laura could not stand to listen anymore and shot a glare at Kane. “Don‘t just sit around. Go and get us
some fruits. I‘m thirsty too.”
“What fruits do you want? I‘ll go prepare.” “Anything will do.” “Alright.” At Laura‘s orders, Kane‘s attitude
changed 180 degrees.
Sage found the situation ridiculous yet hilarious. “I can‘t believe Kane would change so much after getti
ng married.”
“Hahaha, oh well,” Laura chuckled.
Sage shrugged her shoulders. “It‘s fine and it‘s not like I care. As long as my sister–in–law adores me.”
“Well that is of course,” Laura replied with a smile.
Sage tried to do some stretchings. After a while, she felt much better and the muscles around her shoul
ders were not that stiff anymore. With her legs crossed, she sat on the sofa, facing Laura.
Laura said, “Don‘t take what he said to heart, hmm? He‘s just worried about you.”
“I know.”
Sage nodded and sighed softly, “They were all reluctant about the fact that I agreed to take on the CEO
so they could only nag at me.” “Well, you have my full support.” Laura patted Sage‘s head and went on,
apologetically, “I know nothing about
business so I‘m afraid that I wouldn‘t be much of a help.” Sage smiled.
“What‘s most important to me is that you and Kane are happy together.”
Sage then fell back onto the sofa. “I hope everyone finds someone deserving of them.” Sage hoped that
heart, leaving no regrets behind.
Kane walked into the room with a plate of fruits in his hand and said to Sage, “Grandpa‘s asking for you
“What about the fruits?”
Kane shouted at her but Sage was already out of
his sight. Mumbling to himself, Kane said, ” What‘s the rush? It‘s only a wooden hairpin, isn‘t it?”
Laura‘s face darkened. “It could be the wooden hairpin that Jace held onto when he passed.” At her wor
