Sage and Luther were about to bring Melody up to the car when Jace chased after them
from behind.
“Sage…”
Jace was about to say something when Sage responded, “It’s okay, Mister Jace, we’ve booked a hotel
room already. We’ll drive there ourselves.”
The hotel Jace booked for them, Emerald Bay Inn, was under the Yuriel Group. However, Wayne
chose to stay with Mendoza, and Sage and the others did not want to accept the benefit by
themselves.
On top of that, Emerald Bay Inn was the hotel where Jace and Sienna had their wedding, and Sage felt
that it was a sign of bad luck
“If you don’t like Emerald Bay Inn’s environment, I can arrange for another hotel for you to stay in…”
Jace said hurriedly.
Sage cut him off heartlessly and said, “There’s no need for that, Mister Jace. I have my own property in
Nadeem City.”
The sentence alone was enough to shut Jace up completely. Sage looked at his expression and added
ruthlessly, “I bought a place here in the first year of our marriage. Partially for work, but it was also a
place where I go to relax by myself because you had such a bad temper.”
Jace looked at her deeply without saying a word. “I told you, you know nothing about me.” Sage looked
as calm as ever. “I used to show snippets of my true self in the past, but you never cared, nor did you
try to understand me. You can save the effort of trying now.” Some people refused to give up until they
heard the cold, hard truth. Sage got into the car upon finishing her sentence. Once again, the car left
before Jace’s eyes without leaving a trace of regret. The car drove seamlessly and smoothly on the
freeway of Nadeem City. There was only a river separating Salem City and Nadeem City, but the
difference was vast. Whilst Salem City looked like a scene from a painting, Nadeem City gave off tough
and dashing energy as the tall and straight poplar trees lined up the sides of the roads. Luther and
Melody had been staring at Sage from the beginning. Sage eventually got annoyed and rubbed her
temple. “Why are you two staring at me? Is there something on my face?” Melody’s hands were tied
behind her, and she begged pitifully, “Aunt Sage, can you please release me?”
“No,” Sage answered.
…Alright. Melody accepted her fate. She leaned back on the seat and started gossiping, “Aunt Sage,
that handsome man was your ex-husband, right?” Is he trying to get you back?” “This is grown-ups’
matter, a kid like you has nothing to do with it,” Sage responded with a straight face. Melody pouted
unhappily. “I’m turning eighteen soon. I’m not a kid anymore…”
Luther added, “If you’re not a kid, why would you run away from home over nothing?” “Uncle Luther.”
Melody glared at Luther in annoyance. Sage continued the lecture, “If you’re not a kid anymore, stop
doing childish things and worrying the adults.”
Melody’s mood had been ruined completely after the lecture. She then started thinking about her father
and Yoel and began to feel anxious, wondering what they could be talking about.
