Sage and Jace walked out of the room both neatly dressed.

There was a cafe on the first floor of the hotel and Kane was waiting for them in the cafe. Kane crossed

his leg over the other with his back leaned against the sofa. From afar, Kane looked like a gangster. His

eyes narrowed at the sight of Şage and Jace when they arrived together.

Some couples were match-made in heaven, but not for Sage and Jace. Kane once did think that they

were perfect for each if it was not for Jace who had been cold and distant to Sage for the last three

years.

From Jace’s looks to his family background, Kane thought that Jace was a rather good match for his

precious sister.

“Kane,” Sage walked over to him and greeted him.

Acting like the older brother that he was, Kane nodded and gestured for her to sit. Just when Jace was

about to sit down too, Kane hissed coldly, “Did I say that you could sit?” Jace froze slightly but

proceeded to sit down. Unfazed, he stared into Kane’s eyes as if he was trying to taunt her brother.

Narrowing his eyes, Kane seethed, “You better make sure to get rid of that expression on your face.

Just so you know, the last person who dared to look at me like that was torn and shredded into pieces.”

Smirking, Jace replied, “What a coincidence, the last person who talked to me this way found himself

not having his tongue anymore.”

“Do you want to lose your tongue?”

“Do you want me to tear you into pieces?”

“Come on, bring it on…”

Just a few words of exchange and both men were about to start a fight again. Sage could not hold back

any longer. She stood in between the both of them and pushed them away from each other as she

shouted, “Enough! When is this going to end? Are you both kids?”

Kane scoffed, “This is my first time seeing such a childish person.”

Sage shot a glare at him. “Stop it!”

Jace sneered, “And you think you’re that mature?”

Sage tumed to Jace and hissed, “You, shut up too!”

Sage had a lot to drink and she did not take any aspirin this morning so her head throbbed in pain. With

all that shouting and anger, Sage’s face turned pale.

Jace noticed and quickly stood up to hold her. “Are you alright? Come, sit here.”

After Sage took a seat, he went to get her a glass of hot water for Sage. He cooled the hot water and

reminded her, “Careful, it’s hot.”

Seeing how Jace was taking care of Sage, Kane’s face softened a little. It did not matter whether Jace

was putting on a show or not, but at least his intentions were good. As a man himself, Kane was able to

easily tell if Jace had feelings for Sage or not.

She pushed away Jace’s hands and drank the water. Instantly, she felt a lot better.

Kane cleared his throat and spoke, “I want to know what your plan is after this.”

Sage looked up at him and asked, “What do you mean our plan?”

Kane ignored Sage and stared at Jace, “You did what you weren’t supposed to do. Don’t tell me you

don’t know what you should do next.”

Jace arched his eyebrows and asked, “What do you mean, Kane?”

Sage nearly choked on her water when Jace addressed Kane by his first name.

Kane, on the other hand, did not feel that it was strange. He was Sage’s partner so he was close

enough to be addressing him by his first name.

“Let’s not bring up the past anymore.” It was oddly generous and understanding of Kane. Shooting a

deadly glare at Sage, Kane added, “Back then, this girl was going on and on about wanting to marry

you, and just wouldn’t stop going on about how nice you were…”

Feeling her cheeks bumed up, Sage hissed, “Kane!”

He was the one who said that they should stop bringing up the past.

Those were all embarrassing moments of hers and she wanted to bury all of them deep into the ground

“Fine, fine, I’ll stop.”

Kane did not want to trigger Sage any further. So he directed his attention to Jace instead “In the past

three years, you haven’t been good to our sister, and us, her brothers, will not let you off the hook that

easily. I am not one to hold grudges, and all I care about is whether you’d make it up to Sage with real

action and be good to her in the future.”
