Looking as if she was about to cry, Yuri apologized to Sage again, “I am so, so sorry, Miss Sage. I don’t

mean to cause you any inconveniences.”

Sage replied, “You’re still young and inexperienced. You should take this as a lesson. It’s not wrong to

admire good-looking guys, but you should know that not all good-looking guys are nice people, alright?”

“Yes, ma’am.” At the thought that she was about to lose her job, tears welled in her eyes and they

rolled down her cheeks.

Just when she was about to leave with Cora, Jace stopped her. “Just a second.”

Looking at Sage, Jace said, “I was the one who asked her to bring me here. She’s just doing what she

was asked, there’s no need to put her in this position. If there’s anything that you’re not happy with, you

can talk to me instead.”

Yoel tried to catch Jace’s eye, hinting that he should stop talking.

Sage stared silently at Jace and sneered.

“Mr. Jace, do you have an obsession with being a hero that you wish to save all the weak and frail

ladies? If that was the case, you shouldn’t have seduced my employee to get what you want. Let’s be

clear here that you are the one who made her lose her job, not me.”

With a cold and solemn expression, Sage continued, “We have our own set of rules to follow here with

a clear reward and punishment system. Your words don’t matter here. If you like her or take pity on her,

you can always hire her as your secretary. No one’s stopping you.”

Furrowing his brows, Jace could not understand why Sage was accusing him of liking the lady when he

was simply asking for the lady to be pardoned

What was she going on about?

“Hunter.”

“Yes, ma’am?” Hunter took a step forward toward Sage.

In a low voice, Sage said, “Make sure the guards and staff at the front desk recognize Mr. Jace’s face.

Whoever allows him to enter the building will be fired right away.”

Hunter felt a knot in his stomach. “Yes ma’am. I will get this sorted right away.”

He then walked up to Jace and said, “Mr. Jace, Miss Sage has another matter to attend to. If you don’t

mind, let me show you the way out.”

Jace was not someone who easily backs down. He stood silently in place, showing no intention of

leaving.

Tension lurked in the air.

Trying to smooth things over, Yoel said, “Alright, alright. Why fuss over such a small issue?”

Standing between Jace and Sage, Yoel put his hand on Jace’s shoulders and said, “Can’t you see that

Sage is jealous? You should stop going around charming innocent people.”

Jealous?

Jace and Sage looked toward Yoel at the same time.

Startled, Sage’s face flushed red as she yelled, “Yoel Fulton!”

Who did he say was jealous?

“You didn’t have to shout. I can hear you loud and clear.”

Scratching his ears, Yoel then added, “Alright alright, calm down now. Shouldn’t you know him better?

He has always been insensitive and headstrong. It would make sense if you tell me that the lady tried

to charm Jace, but there is absolutely no way that he would charm the lady. I also know that you still

have feelings for him. After all, you guys were married for three years, you’d still need time to get over

him completely, right?”

Yoel went on, “Besides, you could always stay friends, right? There’s no need to be at each other’s

throats, and you can even work together, am I right?”

Sage looked at him coldly and scoffed, “So you’re saying that we should stay friends because we failed

to stay married?”

Yoel nodded. “Yeah.”

“What about if we failed to stay as lovers?”
