It was him.
It was really him.
He was not dead. He was still alive.
Her nose felt a little sore. Then, tears came flowing down her cheek unexpectedly.
Jace’s heart trembled when Sage called his name. It hurt him more to see her in tears.
Although he was already mentally prepared for this, it was still like a dream to see her again. She was
so close to him and right in front of his eyes. “Don’t cry.” Jace’s eyes were red too. He lifted his hand
and wanted to wipe her tears dry. However, her tears just kept falling and would not stop.
He could barely remember when it was the last time he saw her cry like this. Rather, he rarely saw her
cry.
He did not know how much Sage cried when he was announced dead. Sage cried so much for a time
that her tears almost dried up.
Sage remained silent for a long time. Her tears just kept flowing down. She could barely tell she was
crying until his hand touched her face.
She felt the warmth of his fingertips as he gently brushed away the tears from her face.
Even so, she still could not believe that he was back.
She lifted her hand too and reached out to his face. When she felt his warmth on her fingertips, she
scrunched her nose again.
“J… Jace.”
Sage called his name again.
Jace answered with a soft hum, “Hey.”
“Y…You didn’t die,” she choked out, and her voice barely escaped her throat. “No.” Tears welled in his
eyes. He smiled at her. “I didn’t die.” “You’re alive!”
Sage finally found her voice again and gave him a big hug! “Be careful… Your arm…” Jace
subconsciously reminded her. Sage yelled at him, “Shut up! Don’t say anything!”
Jace remained silent. Alright, he would keep his mouth shut.
Jace dared not to make a sound. He let her hold him just like that, but he was worried about her freshly
stitched wounds. He carefully raised his hand and put it on her back.
He patted her twice gently like he was comforting a child. She was so fragile. He feared that he would
break her if he used too much force.
The silence loomed around them. However, she became unhappy at his silence.
“Hey, say something… Just say something…” Sage leaned on his shoulder and breathed in his familiar
woody scent. Her trembling heart finally steadied a little.
Jace’s hand movement paused a little. She seemed to hear his breath and a soft sigh before hearing
his magnetic and deep voice in her ears.
“Long time no see, Sage.”
Yeah. Long time no see. Sage stiffened for two beats, and her hands grabbed him tightly. She lowered
her head and bit hard on his shoulder. Jace gasped in pain but did not resist. He only frowned and let
her vent it all out.
Only this pain could make him realize that this was no longer a dream. He was finally back. He came
back to her. A low cry and series of sobs sounded in the corridor. A desolate figure stood not far away
from the couple. Yale’s grey eyes were fixed on the two people hugging each other on the bench. He
watched how Sage buried her face deep in Jace’s shoulder and cried like a child.
